Amazing Race Canada opens casting for season six

The sixth season of the show is being produced with a spin, seeking out courageous Canadians to participate.

The global adventures are continuing with news that The Amazing Race Canada has been renewed for a sixth season on CTV.

In a twist, the new season of the Insight Productions-produced show is looking to cast courageous Canadians, everyday heroes like teachers, first responders, parents, community leaders and athletes. Also new this season, fans and viewers are being asked to submit the names of heroes in their communities that they feel should be part of the show. Casting for the new season is open now. The season will be in production next April and May.

“Whether it’s the halo of the Invictus Games, or just watching the 11 o’clock news, nothing is more inspirational than celebrating the heroes among us,” said Mike Cosentino, president, content and programming, Bell Media in an email to Playback. “Casting every day heroes has always been a secret sauce for The Amazing Race Canada, but with our season six order we all agreed it’s time to take it to the next level. We’ve already had tremendous response to the nominate-your-hero aspect of this casting round and so we are really looking forward to showcasing Canadians from all corners of the country, from all walks of life who are heroic in their own way, big or small.”

The fifth season of The Amazing Race Canada had an average audience of 1.8 million total viewers per episode, according to Numeris numbers from Bell Media. That’s enough to make it the most-watched Canadian program of the broadcast year to date. The finale drew an average audience of more than two million viewers.
