Toronto’s Vortex Words + Pictures have partnered with A71 Entertainment and Black Fawn Distribution to release the The Coup’s horror comedy Another WolfCop in Canada.
The sequel to 2014’s Cinecoup accelerator competition-winner, Another WolfCop is set for a wide release in Cineplex theatres across Canada beginning Dec. 8. The film will then have a Blue-ray/DVD/digital home entertainment release in 2018.
A71 and Cineplex are handling theatrical, with A71 also holding digital rights to the film, while Guelph, ON-based Black Fawn Distribution hold hard goods and exposition rights. Vortex Words + Pictures is taking international rights. This is the first film to be released through the new Canadian distribution partnership between the three companies.
Another WolfCop stars Leo Fafard, who reprises his role at WolfCop, a hard-drinking police officer who was transformed into a werewolf in the first film. Joining him on screen is Murdoch Mysteries’ Yannick Bisson as super villain Sydney Swallows. The sequel follows WolfCop as he battles Swallows, a businessman with bad intentions of seducing the town’s residents with a new brewery and a hockey team.
Written and directed by Wolfcop‘s Lowell Dean, the film is produced by Bernie Hernando, Deborah Marks and Hugh Patterson. It was executive produced by Vortex founder Bill Marks, alongside Sean Buckley, J. Joly, Brian Wideen, Michael Kenendy and Michael Hirsch.
Another Wolfcop had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX and recently debuted to Canadian audiences at Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival.
