Wind Sun Sky to adapt My Singing Monsters game

The Vancouver-based entertainment co led by Catherine Winder is developing the mobile game as an animated TV series.

Vancouver’s Wind Sun Sky Entertainment and London, ON-based mobile games company Big Blue Bubble have partnered to adapt Big Blue’s top-selling game My Singing Monsters into an animated TV series.

Wind Sun Sky is led by former Rainmaker Entertainment president and LucasFilm exec Catherine Winder, with minority investments from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, executive producer David Alpert and entrepreneur Jon Goldman.

My Singing Monsters, a mobile world-building game where players collect and breed musical monsters, has more than 50 million users across gaming platforms and its YouTube content has more than 250 million views.

Winder will executive produce the series, which is currently in development. This isn’t the first game she’s helped adapt for film and TV audiences. Winder recently served as a producer on The Angry Birds Movie, produced by Rovio Entertainment and based on the hugely popular mobile app.

Alpert and Kirkman’s L.A.-based multimedia company Skybound Entertainment will distribute the series in all territories outside of Canada. Canadian distribution and broadcast partners have yet to be announced.
