Letterkenny to drop special St. Patrick’s Day episode
CraveTV original Letterkenny is getting into the Irish spirit, announcing a new episode will launch on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. The new ep further builds on Letterkenny‘s strategy of debuting new episodes on significant, viewer-friendly holidays. The entire second season of the show launched on Christmas Day, while season one premiered on Super Bowl Sunday in 2016. The comedy series was last week nominated for eight Canadian Screen Awards, including best comedy series, alongside Schitt’s CreekKim’s Convenience, Mr. D and Mohawk Girls.

Nominees announced for ACTRA Awards in Toronto
ACTRA Toronto has unveiled the nominations for the 15th Annual ACTRA Awards in Toronto, with Tatiana Maslany (Two Lovers and a Bear), Jean Yoon (Kim’s Convenience) and Brenda Bazinet (Shoot the Messenger) among those vying for the top prize in the Outstanding Performance – Female category. Also nominated in the category is Grace Lynn Kung for her role in The Death (and Life) of Carl Naardlinger and Kari Matchett in Canada/Ireland coproduction Maudie. Up for the Outstanding Performance – Male prize is Simu Liu (Blood and Water), Joey Klein (We’re Still Together), Eric Osborne (Degrassi: Next Class), Gord Rand (Orphan Black) and Paul Soles (My 90-Year-Old Roommate). Meanwhile, Lilly Bartlam (Dot), Linda Kash (Fugget About It), Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring (This is That), Bryn McAuley (Camp Lakebottom) and Scott McCord (Atomic Puppet) are nominated in the Outstanding Performance – Voice category.

Peppa Pig picks up a prize at the Asia Licensing Awards
eOne-owned preschool property Peppa Pig has won the Best New Property prize at Asia Licensing Awards in Hong Kong. Last year, eOne bolstered the show’s presence in Asia, launching on several VOD platforms including iQiYi, Youku and Tudou. The property has now surpassed 16.3 billion views across various VOD platforms in China, according to a press release from eOne. Peppa Pig also furthered its reach into Asia, announcing a retail launch in partnership with Viacom18 Consumer Products.

Randy Lennox honoured by CARAS
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) has announced that longtime music exec and Bell Media’s current president, broadcasting and content Randy Lennox, will be awarded the 2017 Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award. The distinction, which is named after the famed Canadian published Walt Grealis, recognizes outstanding contributions to the Canadian music industry. Lennox will receive the award at the 46th Annual JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards on Saturday, April 1.  

Maudie to screen in Berlin
Canada/Ireland coproduction Maudie is to screen at next month’s Berlin International Film Festival. The Newfoundland-shot feature film, which stars Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, will screen out of competition in the festival’s Berlinale Special section. The screening will mark the film’s European premiere. In October 2016, Sony Pictures Classics (SPC) acquired the rights to the film in a number of territories including the U.S., U.K. and Latin America.
