Cameras are rolling in Toronto and Niagara on dark comedy Mary Goes Round, the debut feature film from writer/director Molly McGlynn (pictured).
The film is produced through Matt Code’s Wildling Pictures banner and tells the story of an alcoholic substance abuse counselor who retreats to her hometown to learn that her estranged father has terminal cancer.
Mary Goes Round stars Aya Cash (You’re the Worst) and Sara Waisglass (Degrassi: The Next Generation), John Ralston and Melanie Nicholls-King. with filming on the $250,000 feature scheduled to wrap on Dec. 17.
McGlynn’s previous credits include short film 3-Way (Not Calling), which premiered in the Short Cuts program at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival.
Mary Goes Round is coproduced by Kristy Neville, who earlier this year shot her debut feature film Cardinal, starring Katie Boland.
McGlynn’s feature received development funding through the Harold Greenberg Fund and is produced through the Telefilm Micro-Budget Program. Aeschylus Poulos (Sleeping Giant) serves as executive producer on the project.
