Ahead of its season finale on Space, Bell Media has confirmed that Killjoys has been renewed for a third season.

Space has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of the series, which was created by showrunner Michelle Lovretta and is produced by Temple Street, in association with Space and U.S. net Syfy.

Syfy has also renewed the series for a third season in the U.S., as well as Prodigy Pictures’ Dark Matter. A season three renewal for Dark Matter in Canada has yet to be confirmed.

Both Killjoys and Dark Matter have proven hits for Space. Bell Media reported that both series, together averaged 25% more viewers year-over-year in the 18-to-49 demographic for their season premieres on July 1.

Production on the third season of Killjoys is set to begin in Toronto this winter, and is expected to premiere as part of Space’s summer lineup in 2017.

Killjoys will also enjoy star treatment at the kickoff of Fan Expo tonight in Toronto, with an advance screening of the finale for fans and a ComicCon-style panel with a selection of key cast members.

Killjoys stars Hannah John-Kamen, Aaron Ashmore and Luke MacFarlane will all return for the third season. The series is executive produced by Lovretta, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, and Karen Troubetzkoy. Universal Cable Productions distributes the series worldwide.
