Hotel Transylvania: The Television Series, produced by Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana and Sony Pictures Animation, has been picked up by Disney Channels Worldwide.
The 26 x 22-minute series will air next year on the Disney Channel in U.S., Europe (except Germany), Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. The series was produced at Nelvana’s Toronto studio. In addition to the broadcast rights, the on-demand rights to the series were also licensed to Disney Channels Worldwide.
Based on the film franchise Hotel Transylvania, which is also produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the TV show focuses on the teenage years of Dracula’s daughter Mavis and Hank N. Stein, Pedro and Wendy Blob. The film franchise’s theatrical release has grossed more than $820 million globally, according to a press release from Nelvana and Sony Pictures Animation.
In the U.S., Sony Pictures Television is distributing, while Nelvana Enterprises is handling distribution in all territories outside the U.S.
The Hotel Transylvania series was executive produced by Sony Pictures Animation’s Rick Mischel and Nelvana’s Scott Dyer, Colin Bohm and Irene Weibel.
