IndieCan inks unique charitable partnership for The Adventure Club

The distributor has acquired Canadian rights to the family feature from Trilight and is working with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.

It’s not always that a film-distribution story has a heart-warming spin to it, but such is the case with The Adventure Club, set to be released in Canada with a unique charitable spin.

Domestic rights to the family-focused Trilight Entertainment film have been acquired by IndieCan Entertainment, the indie producer/distributor helmed by Avi Federgreen. The film stars Billy Zane and Kim Coates and three “Adventure Club” friends (played by Sam Ashe Arnold, Dalia Bela, and Jakob Davies, pictured) who get into trouble with some bad guys while seeking thrills.

IndieCan will release the film theatrically in Canada in fall 2016 and has inked a unique charitable partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, which will see all distributor and producer revenues from the film’s theatrical release go to the clubs.

“I have been chomping at the bit to distribute family films in Canada for a very long time. I immediately knew after watching the film that The Adventure Club had to be the first family film that IndieCan released,” Federgreen said in a statement.

“It’s a win for the charity, the community and our investors,” added Glenn Paradis, president and CEO, Clairwood Capital, which facilitated financing on the film.

The film was written by Fred Ewanuick and Robin Dunne, is directed by Geoff Anderson and is produced by Shayne Putzlocher, Glenn Paradis, Sara Shaak as well as Mark Montague of Montague Entertainment. It was shot in Regina, Saskatchewan last fall and is part of a slate of films produced in partnership between distributor Double Dutch International (DDI), which holds international rights to the film, and Trilight Entertainment.
