Saskatchewan’s Super 8 superstar

Filmmaker Dianne Ouellette (pictured left) was one of three winners of the Kodak Super 8 Filmmaking Challenge at Slamdance.

unnamed (10)Saskatchewan-based filmmaker Dianne Ouellette has been named among three winners of the Kodak Super 8 Filmmaking Challenge.

Her project, Red is Dead, screened alongside 14 other projects in the competition’s semi-final stage at Slamdance Film Festival on Monday night, with Ouellette winning the third-place prize and a Kodak PixPro SP360 Action Camera and three Pro8mm Super 8 film kits.

The global competition drew more than 530 submissions (all shot on Kodak Super 8 camera) which were narrowed down to a field of 15 by an online audience vote and juried selection. The three winners were then chosen by an online audience vote.

The competition’s other winners were Spain’s Pablo Madrid Lopez for The Novel and Haven Nutt from the U.S. for her project Mr. Man

The Kodak Super 8 Filmmaking Challenge was launched in November 2015 in celebration of the 50-year anniversary of the launch of the Kodak Super 8 camera.
