Northern Banner, the specialty label of indie distributor Raven Banner Entertainment, has taken all Canadian rights to Jeremy Lalonde’s latest comedic feature How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town.
The announcement came after the film had its British Columbia premiere at the Whistler Film Festival Thursday. Northern Banner will release How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town theatrically in Canada in early 2016.
The Northern Banner label was launched by Raven Banner Entertainment in September 2014, with the goal of using specialty film releases to broaden the company’s reach in Canada’s distribution market. The label recently acquired Ciro Guerra’s Embrace of the Serpent, which won the top prize at Directors’ Fortnight during this year’s Cannes Film Festival .
How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town was produced by Jordan Walker of Neophyte Productions and Chris Bennett of Gyro Park Productions. Lalonde penned the script for the feature in addition to directing. The film stars Jewel Staite, Ennis Esmer, Lauren Holly, Katharine Isabelle and Lauren Smith. Financing sources included Telefilm and an Indiegogo campaign.
