The Film Farm boards Lights Out

Jennifer Weiss and Simone Urdl of the Toronto-based prodco will coproduce the upcoming Brian De Palma (pictured) feature.

Toronto’s The Film Farm is among the prodcos attached to Brian De Palma’s upcoming project Lights Out, a China/U.S./Canada copro to be shot in Toronto in 2016.

Casting and pre-production is currently underway on for the action thriller, which follows the story of a blind Chinese girl who gets swept up in a plot to expose a secret assassination program. Jennifer Weiss and Simone Urdl  of The Film Farm will serve as producers, along with Gary Hamilton, Ying Ye, Mike Gabrawy, Elliot Tong and Huace Media Group.

Huace Media Group is a China-based publicly traded film and television production company, which is working with sales agency Easternlight to package the film. Easternlight is the Asian-based arm of the larger Archlight Films sales agency.

De Palma’s most recent project was 2012′s Passion, starring Rachel McAdams, Noomi Rapace and Karoline Herfurth. De Palma is represented by John Burnham of ICM and attorney Donald Steele.
