Toronto-based digital media and TV prodco Mark Media has tapped Laurinda Shaver as its new creative digital kids producer.

In her new position, Shaver will lead the development and production of Mark’s digital media products for kids, including apps, online content and other interactive learning experiences.

Her immediate focus will be on the company’s preschool property Miaomiao, which houses a collection of iOS apps and CG-animated TV episodes that teach Chinese and English-language skills to children.

She comes to Mark Media from  educational publisher Pearson Canada, where she was a digital strategist. Shaver has also worked as director of interactive at Toronto-based Guru Studio, interactive producer at Canadian pubcaster CBC, and manager of original productions at Corus Entertainment-owned kidsnet YTV.

Along with Miaomiao’s digital team, Shaver is currently working on the upcoming iOS app release of Fun with Colors, a new ocean-themed app that teaches color themes in both English and Mandarin.

Currently, Mark Media is completing post-production on a new batch of 30 x seven-minute eps of CG-animated series Miaomiao, distributed globally by fellow Canuck outfit Brain Power Studio.
