Teletubbies reboot to air on Family Junior

DHX Television has licensed the 60-episode series for exclusive linear English broadcast in Canada on the preschool channel.

DHX Television has added DHX Media’s Teletubbies reboot to the new programming lineup for its rebranded preschool channel, Family Jr.

DHX Television has licensed the 60-episode Teletubbies series for exclusive linear English broadcast in Canada on the preschool channel,  with eps salted to start airing in winter 2016. DHX Media also appointed Toronto-based Spin Master to distribute  Characters Options’ range of plush, plastics and bath Teletubbies toys across Canada, the U.S., France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

The rebooted Teletubbies series was originally commissioned by  U.K. pubcaster CBeebies, where it will bow this fall.

The series is being produced for DHX Media by U.K. production company Darrall Macqueen Ltd. DHX Media acquired all rights to the Teletubbies franchise via its purchase of Ragdoll Worldwide, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and Ragdoll Productions that managed and owned Teletubbies programming.

The original series created by Anne Wood debuted in 1997 and went on to air in more than 120 territories in 45 languages.
