Parked, My Lupine Life among Vancouver Web Fest nominees

Parked, Guidestones: Sunflower Noir and Whatever, Linda are among the nominees competing for nine “best of” prizes to be awarded at the second annual Vancouver Web Fest.

The festival, set to run from March 6 to March 8, will be held at Performance Works on Vancouver’s Granville Island. The best overall prize will be awarded at an awards gala on March 8. The nominees include both Canadian and foreign web series.

Guidestones: Sunflower Noir (iThentic, 3 o’clock.t ), Les Jaunes (Nemesis Films), My Lupine Life (Karma Films, T3 Digital Productions), Whatever, Linda (Secret Location, Touchpoint Films) and Parked (producers Siobhan McCarthy and Tracey Mack) are nominated in the best Canadian web series category.

In the Best Director category, Canadians Peter DeLuise (Parked), Jay Ferguson (Guidestones: Sunflower Noir) and Matt Eastman (Whatever, Linda) are nominated, along with three American directors.

Guidestones: Sunflower Noir and My Lupine Life also received nominations in the Best Screenplay category. Guidestones: Sunflower NoirWhatever, Linda and Frost Bite Pictures’ Stricken were also nominated in the Best Cinematography category. For Best Original Score, Guidestones: Sunflower Noir, Haphead (from producers Sean Lerner and Anthony Cortese) and Whatever, Linda all received nominations.

David Lewis received a Best Actor nomination for his role in Parked. Supinder Wraich was nominated for a Best Actress award for her work in Guidestones: Sunflower Noir. Sheri Rabold also received a Best Actress nomination for her role in Single and Dating in Vancouver (produced by Tory Mundle), and Hannah Cheesman was nominated for her work in Whatever, Linda.

Five of the six web series nominated in the best special effects category were Canadian, including Disrien, KarmaPirates’ Dynamo, Les Juanes, Standard Action (produced by Joanna Gaskell and Rob Hunt) and The Abs Tract: Core Philosophy.

Finally, seven web series received nominations in the Best Foreign category, including Caper, Discrepance, Dynamo, Perfect Girl, Quella sporca sacca nera (The dirty black dog), Sin Vida Propia and The Future Starts Here.
