History Canada is to debut Cineflix Productions’ biker-gang crime drama Gangland Undercover on March 2, 2015.
The 6 x 60-minute series is based on the real-life story of a drug dealer who infiltrates an outlaw biker gang on behalf of the police, and will bow on History in the U.S. market beforehand on February 24, 2015.
The series stars Damon Runyan, Paulino Nunes, James Cade, Don Francks, Melanie Scrofano, Ari Cohen and Patricia McKenzie.
Gangland Undercover is based on Charles Falco’s 2013 memoir and is produced by Cineflix Productions in association with Shaw Media and Stephen Kemp.
Noel Baker is lead writer on the series, with Neil Rawles, Carl Hindmarch and Stephen Kemp directing. Charles Tremayne and Kim Bondi are executive producers.
A+E Networks will distribute Gangland Undercover outside of North America.
In other Shaw Media specialty channel greenlights, the network has ordered 14 half-hour episodes of First Dates Canada for Slice. The format adaption was originally produced in the U.K. by Twenty Twenty for Channel 4. The Canadian version of the series is a coproduction between Force Four Entertainment and Remedy Canada Productions, in association with Shaw Media and Slice.
First Dates Canada is currently slated for a 2015 bow, but a premier date has not yet been set. Production on the factual series, which films a couple out on a first blind date, is set to start in early March in Vancouver.
