Pixcom sells format option for Appearances

Pixcom, a production house based in Montreal, has sold the option for the format for its drama series Appearances to U.S. producer Intrigue and the French prodco Samka.

Appearances aired for one season on Radio-Canada and included 10 one-hour episodes. The French-language series tells the story of twin sisters – one a famous actress, the other school teacher – and what transpires when one of the sisters goes missing.

The series bowed on Radio-Canada in Quebec in 2012 and won several Gémeaux Awards that year, including best male lead role for Alexis Martin, best female lead role for  Myriam LeBlanc and best dramatic series. The series has also aired on TV5 channels throughout the world.

The executive producers on the original Appearances were Jacquelin Bouchard, Sylvie Desrochers, Carole Dufour and Philippe Lapointe. Valérie Allard served as showrunner, and André Dupuy served as producer.

In other Pixcom news, the prodco also recently started production on the scripted series Karl/Marx for TVA. The series stars Charles Lafortune and Guy Jodoin.
