Showcase to end Lost Girl after fifth season

Lost Girl - Season 4 - 1

It’s five seasons to finale for Lost Girl.

Showcase and Syfy, which has aired the long-running Canadian acquisition stateside, on Monday said the upcoming fifth season of the supernatural drama will be its last.

Prodigy Pictures confirmed to Playback Daily that the Canadian drama will also wrap internationally.

The consolation for Lost Girl viewers? Showcase bumped up its original 13-episode order for the fifth season to 16 episodes.

The network will air the first eight episodes beginning Dec. 7, with the second half-season to tentatively air in fall 2015.

Lost Girl star Anna Silk announced the upcoming cancellation the supernatural drama in a YouTube message.

The series follows Silk in the character of the supernatural seductress Bo, who feeds off sexual energy.

The final season will see Bo go to hell and back to try to save the people she loves, triggering an explosive chain of events, according to Showcase.

Lost Girl was developed by Prodigy Pictures, in association with Shaw Media and Showcase.

Executive producers are Jay Firestone, Vanessa Piazza and Michael Grassi.

The series is produced with financing from the Canada Media Fund and Ontario and federal tax credits.
