Toronto-based Breakthrough Entertainment has begun principal photography on The Great War – With Norm Christie, a multi-part television and online doc series slated for release this winter.

The series, funded with support from Canadian networks TVO and Knowledge Network as will as with the support of the Celebration and Commemoration Program at the Department of Canadian Heritage, is the latest collaboration between military historian Christie, and producer/director and Breakthrough Entertainment partner Peter Williamson. Both had previously worked on the series For King & Empire and For King & Country.

The upcoming series, commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I, will follow Christie as he journeys to iconic Great War sites and recounts stories of Canadian men and women embroiled in the conflict.

Executive producers for the project are Nat Abraham, Norm Christie, Ira Levy, Michael McGuigan and Peter Williamson.
