Entertainment One has acquired rival Canadian distributor Phase 4 Films to bolster its U.S. film division.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Phase 4 president and CEO Berry Meyerowitz becomes president of eOne’s U.S. film and distribution business, a move that comes a month after eOne North American Films president David Reckziegel left the company.
The acquisition aims to bolster eOne’s VOD, digital and home entertainment presence in the U.S. market, and allow the Canadian distributor to better penetrate the U.S. market with platform releases for its film titles.
Meyerowitz launched Toronto-based Phase 4 in 2009.
eOne is also acquiring Phase 4’s kaboom! Entertainment kids and family label.
