Indie producer marblemedia has named former Momentum Entertainment Group development executive Roberto Alcantara to the newly created position of VP, primetime scripted development.

The Toronto-based company has stepped up scripted development at its Los Angeles office, with Alcantara forging ties with writers and showrunners on the strength of his industry relationships.

Reporting to marblemedia co-CEO and executive producer Matt Hornburg in Los Angeles, Alcantara will also help grow the Canadian company’s profile with U.S. buyers in Hollywood.

While with Momentum Entertainment Group, Alcantara developed scripted drama, comedy and digital content, and packaged the series Full Circle.

He also completed earlier executive stints at Ostar Enterprises and CAA.

His kids TV credits at marblemedia include Japanizi: Going, Going, Gong!, Splatalot and Hi Opie! with The Jim Henson Company.

In his newly created role, Perlus will forge new kids and family content as marblemedia expands its development slate for both Canadian series and international coproductions.

Alcantara and Perlus will be on hand at the Banff World Media Festival to identify new development opportunities for marblemedia.
