Tatiana Maslany, Michael J. Fox nab Golden Globe noms

Tatiana Maslany scores best actress nomination for Golden Globes, as does four-time winner Michael J. Fox for best actor.

Regina-born actress Tatiana Maslany has scored her first Golden Globe nomination for her role – or is that, roles – in Orphan Black.

Maslany, who plays multiple roles as a cloned woman, was nominated for the best performance by an actress in a television drama award at the Golden Globes, announced this morning. Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with Space and BBC America.

She’s got some heavy competition: she’ll be facing off against Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife), Taylor Schilling (Orange Is The New Black), Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Robin Wright (House Of Cards.)

Also breaking out the nomination bubbly is fellow Canadian Michael J. Fox, honoured in the best performance by an actor in a television series – musical or comedy for his return to primetime TV in The Michael J. Fox Show.

He’ll be competing against Arrested Development‘s Jason Bateman, House Of Lies’ Don Cheadle, The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons and Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Andy Samberg.

Fox, who recently returned to the lead role of a series following an initial departure due to Parkinson’s, is a four-time Golden Globe winner for his roles in Family Ties and Spin City.

Golden Globes 2014 are scheduled to be presented on Jan. 12, 2014.
