Jason Priestley’s Whistler opener Cas & Dylan was named the audience winner at the west coast festival, which wrapped on Sunday.

The indie road movie earlier earned co-lead Tatiana Maslany the best actor prize at Whistler in the Borsos competition, but was beaten for the top juried prize for Best Canadian feature by Bruce McDonald’s The Husband.

But Priestley’s theatrical feature about a dying doctor, played by Dreyfuss, who takes a reluctant detour before checking out with a young woman (Maslany) prevailed with festival audiences.

The Montefiore Films project, written by Jesse Gabe, is set for a domestic release by Pacific Northwest Pictures.

The runner up in the audience award competition was Don McKellar’s The Grand Seduction.

The 13th annual Whistler Film Festival screened 84 films during its Dec. 4 to Dec. 8 run.
