Just a few short months after being named president of national specialty and pay TV, radio and out-of-home for Bell Media, former Astral exec Jacques Parisien has announced his departure from the company.

Parisien was promoted to the senior post at Bell Media following the mediaco’s acquisition of Astral earlier this year. He is slated to stay on until the end of 2013.

According to Bell Media VP of communications Scott Henderson, Parisien’s departure was motivated by a decision to pursue other interests.

“Jacques has decided to see what is next for him outside of Bell Media, and we are supportive of his decision,” says Henderson. “We are happy that he will remain with us until the end of the year as the integration with Astral continues.”

Replacing Parisien as Quebec leads on the executive team are Charles Benoît, president, television and radio (Quebec) and Luc Quétel, president, Astral Out-of-Home.

Prior to Bell Media’s acquisition of the Quebec-based media company, Parisien was EVP and COO of Astral Media and president of Astral Radio.

“I have been at Astral for nearly two decades,” said Parisien in a statement. “I have seen it mature into the pride of Québec, and one of Canada’s most accomplished media organizations. Now, as Bell Media, the team has the resources and acumen to further flourish and succeed.”
