Rogers Fund invests $4.6 million in 18 projects


The Rogers Documentary and Cable Network Fund announced Monday a total equity investment of just over $4.6 million in 18 television projects.

Scripted fare that received equity investments from the fund includes the fourth season of Blackstone for APTN; upcoming international copro miniseries Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell and season two of Temple Street’s clone thriller Orphan Black, both for Bell Media’s Space.

Unscripted and factual projects receiving funding this round include Vision TV’s God’s Greatest Hits, season three; recently announced Tessa and Scott: The Golden Couple for W Network; a second season of Paperny Entertainment’s Yukon Gold for History Television; Satan: The Documentary, slated for TMN, Movie Central, Mpix and Encore; and Ring of Fire for APTN.

Also receiving investments are, for Discovery Channel Canada, Pixcom’s Licence to Drill, season four and Cold Water Cowboys; for Super Channel, documentaries Gone South: How Canada Invented Hollywood and Why Horror?; and also for History Canada, Camp X and Dino Hunt Canada.

Elsewhere, Two of a Kind, for CBC and Documentary Channel; Klondike, for Rogers Biography Channel and WNED/PBS, Sports on Fire for TMN and Movie Central and 20 Moves for Rogers Biography Channel also received equity investments in the fund’s latest round.
