Bell Media Banff fellows announced

The 14 fellowship recipients will attend the Banff World Media Festival in June and must bring a Canadian project suitable for broadcast to the festival.

The Banff World Media festival and Bell Media have announced 14 recipients of the Bell Media National Fellowship program.

The program is part of Bell Media’s $1.8 million TV Skills Development Initiative, and sends emerging producers, writers and directors to the Banff festival to participate in the programming, mentorship and pitching opportunities at the event. They must also bring a Canadian project suitable for broadcast to the festival with specific goals in mind for the  project.

The 2013 recipients are as follows:

  • Tony Elliot, screenwriter, Toronto, ON

  • Stacy James-Fry, sales, sponsorship and marketing professional, Calgary, AB
  • Margaret Lester, writer, Mississauga, ON
  • Faye Li, director and writer, Toronto, ON
  • Jocelyn Mercer, producer, Toronto, ON
  • Jennifer Sharpe, writer, director and producer, Toronto, ON
  • Pat Smith, writer and producer, Toronto, ON
  • Mike Sorrenti, president of GamePill, Aurora, ON
  • Damon Surzyshyn, camera editor, Winnipeg, MB
  • Priscilla White, writer, Toronto, ON

The Banff World Media Festival takes place June 9 to 12.
