SIM Digital acquires PS Production Services

SIM Digital has acquired PS Production Services and its production rental services houses in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but continues an acquisition drive at SIM Digital that includes Bling Digital in 2009 and Master Key Finishing last year as founder Rob Sim grows his one-stop shop for film and TV producers.

The strategy will be combining PS as a grip and lighting facility with SIM’s cameras offerings, along with its Bling Post division, to deliver full-service solutions throughout North America.

SIM Canadian offices will now offer digital cameras and lenses, lighting, grip and package trucks, as well as Bling Post services.

The sale of PS, which has around 130 employees, follows the untimely death of founder Doug Dales in 2010.

PS president and CEO Doug Barrett has left PS after leading the company for seven years.

Sim, SIM Digital president and CEO, will now set about to integrate PS into his growing production services group, in competition here with rival William F. White International.

Sim paid homage to Doug Dales on Monday on news of his latest acquisition.

“Both of our companies started out with humble beginnings and through hard work and constant dedication, we were both able to successfully grow our companies to where they are today,” he in a statement.

“Our cultures are very similar so when this opportunity presented itself, I couldn’t think of two companies that better complemented one another,” he added.
