Big Brother Canada nets big numbers on TV, web

The series drew its highest audience to date - 757,000 (V2+) for its Apr. 7 episode - while Shaw Media says viewers have streamed more than 1,000,000 hours of video from online live feeds over the last seven weeks.

The series, which airs on Slice, drew the season’s highest audience to date for its recent Apr. 7 episode – 757,000 (V2+) and 476,300 (A25-54) viewers, according to numbers from BBM Canada provided by Shaw Media.

And online, viewers have streamed more than 1,000,000 hours of video from live feeds over the last seven weeks, according to data from a Livestream Channel Analytics Report.

On the web at, viewers can watch live feeds, single episodes and exclusive Big Brother Canada content. They can also play the Power Play game, in which viewers predict key events about what will happen next in the series, like who will win Head of Household and who will be evicted. Players earn points by making correct predictions and by sharing on Facebook and Twitter. They can then spend those points to influence what happens on the show. Big Brother Canada airs on Slice three times a week, with Big Brother Canada After Dark airing seven days a week from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. (EST). More than 2.7 million Canadians tune in to the show weekly, according to BBM Canada data provided by Shaw Media.

Shaw Media also said its average audience on Slice has increased by 77% in the A25-54 demo since Big Brother Canada launched, and receives an average of 2.5 million page views to Big Brother Canada content per week, according to Adobe Site Catalyst numbers.
