Tricon Films, Mercury Filmworks develop Go Away Unicorn! series

Tricon Films & Television and Mercury Filmworks are developing the animated kids series Go Away Unicorn!, based on the popular children’s book by writer/illustrator Emily Mullock.

The series, to comprise 26 half-hours, follows the hilarious adventures of twins, Alice and Ollie, as they are swept up in the chaos unleashed by an exuberant unicorn and a timid dragon.

Together they learn that differences are something to embrace and that friendship is sometimes found in the unlikeliest of places.

The Go Away Unicorn! book was published by McKellar & Martin Publishing Group, which is co-owned by Meghan Hague and Tonya Martin.

The series will be a Mercury Filmworks and Tricon Films & Television co-production with Tricon also serving as the international distributor.

“Everyone who reads this book can’t help falling in love with Emily’s engaging characters, and we couldn’t have found a more talented partner than Mercury to adapt the story for television,” said Jon Rutherford, senior vice president distribution and business development at Tricon Films & Television in a statement Tuesday.
