Corus Entertainment’s KidsCo venture, an international kid’s channel in which it partners as an minority investor with NBCUniversal, is to supply programming to Syfy.
The dedicated programming block, Syfy Kids, will air on the NBCUniversal channel to help draw in new viewers aged 6 to 10 years to the genre channel.
The Syfy Kids block will launch in the second quarter of 2013.
Hendrik McDermott, managing director of KidsCo, which operates out of Toronto from a Corus facility, said the lineup for Syfy Kids will be unveiled in the future.
Original programming and third-party acquisitions will also figure as part for the kids genre programming block.
“This venture extends the Syfy brand to a whole new generation of younger viewers and establishes a strong global partner as we seek to develop an outlet for Syfy Kids content domestically,” Dave Howe, president of Syfy and Chiller said in a statement Wednesday.
