Discovery Canada to premiere original series Alien Mysteries

Bell Media’s Discovery Canada will debut the new original series Alien Mysteries, from its international production house Exploration Production Inc. (EPI), on Mar. 3.

The CGI series chronicles first-person accounts of UFO sightings, alien encounters and abductions.

It will feature reenactments using CGI and green screen techniques created by Toronto-based Acme Digital Pictures.

Alien Mysteries will also feature scientists and researchers who attempt to answer and investigate the bizarre experiences.

“This spring, Canadian audiences will be awe-struck by Alien Mysteries – a truly impressive production featuring unexplained stories, and the real science behind it. This is the kind of thing Discovery does best,” said Discovery Networks president and general manager Paul Lewis in a statement, adding that the series is “without a doubt the most challenging factual production we’ve ever undertaken.”

Discovery is also running a multi-platform campaign to support the series launch, including Facebook and Twitter and an interactive site on Discovery.ca, which will include exclusive video, photos and show information.

The series will debut with a two-hour premiere on Mar. 3 at 8 p.m.

Alien Mysteries is produced by EPI in association with Discovery Canada. Karen McCairley (Mighty Ships) is exec producer. Tony Leadman, head of worldwide program distribution for EPI, is handling its international distribution.
