Writer/directors Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart have moved from film shorts to their theatrical feature debut with I Put a Hit on You, which stars Sara Canning and Aaron Ashmore.

Clark and Stewart had Mike MacMillan of Lithium Studios Productions and Jordan Gross of Dark Hope Entertainment, both based in Toronto, produce their earlier shorts Long Branch and Margo Lily.

Now the quartet are back collaborating on the dark romantic comedy about a brokenhearted woman (Canning) who teams up with her ex-boyfriend (Ashmore) to stop the hitman she accidentally hired to kill him.

The crowd-financing film is set to start shooting in Toronto from Nov. 20.

Canning’s credits include The Vampire Diaries and Primeval: New World, while Ashmore has a lead role in Warehouse 13.
