The Directors Guild of Canada’s Ontario branch has named Bill Skolnik as CEO.

Skolnik was most recently in charge of industrial relations for the American Federation of Musicians as vice president from Canada.

Skolnik was also executive director of the Toronto Musicians Association.

“[Skolnik’s] understanding of our creative community, his lengthy history within the world of collective bargaining, and his exceptional managerial skill set will add great depth to the guild,” Alan Goluboff, chair of the DGC Ontario board of directors, said of the appointment.

Skolnik, an accomplished musician, lyricist and composer, has TV credits that include Sesame Street.

CORRECTION: In the original version of this article, Playback erroneously indicated Bill Skolnik was replacing Gerry Barr, when in fact he is replacing Ron Haney. Barr is the DGC’s national CEO and is remaining in his position. Playback regrets the error.
