Director Katrin Bowen has started cameras rolling on her second feature, Random Acts of Romance, now shooting in Vancouver through Feb. 17.
The relationship comedy, which stars Zak Santiago and Amanda Tapping, portrays two couples, one that met in college and another that should be in love as rich newlyweds, but aren’t.
Random Acts of Romance is the follow-up to Bowen’s debut feature Amazon Falls (Bowen is pictured on-set here), which bowed at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2010.
The ensemble cast includes Katherine Isabelle, Robert Moloney, Laura Bertram and Sonja Bennett.
Bowen wrote the script with Jillian Mannion and Kevin McComiskie.
Avi Federgreen and Lindsay Macadam are executive-producing.
Darren Reiter of Purple Productions, who also produced Amazon Falls, is re-teaming to co-produce with Bowen Random Acts of Romance, which has financing from Telefilm Canada, Rogers Telefund and Super Channel.
An August 2012 release date for the Canadian feature is planned.
