MIPCOM 2011: Shaftesbury Films and Smokebomb get Totally Amp’d

Shaftesbury Films and its digital media division, Smokebomb Entertainment, are releasing a new app-based mobile series called Totally Amp’d.

The mobile app, unveiled in time for MIPCOM, stars Ashley Leggat and combines live action comedy and interactive elements in nine seven-minute “appisodes.”

In Totally Amp’d, Leggat plays a receptionist-turned-manager who brings together five teenagers with raw musical talent to possibly become the next big musical supergroup.

Interactive elements include remix-able tracks, directable music videos and creating marketing collateral for the band.

The mobile app, to be sold on iTunes from late November, was partly funded by the Canada Media Fund and will be published by XMG Studio Inc. The series is also being sold as a standalone property at MIPCOM.
