Arc to do 3D ani work on Matt Hatter Chronicles

Indie producer Platinum Films UK is teaming up with Arc Productions to make a 3D animated TV series titled Matt Hatter Chronicles.

The move follows Arc completing work on the animated feature Gnomeo & Juliet, a box office hit for Miramax Films, and Universal/Focus Features’ 9.

“Arc is now recognized as a global leader in the animation and visual effects sector,” said Platinum CEO Nigel Stone in a statement. “They are the perfect partner as they continually prove they can deliver high-end and successful content whether it’s for film, TV or online,” he added.

Also pacting on the 3D TV series is Toronto-based producer Dream Mill, headed up by Jacqueline Kelly.

Matt Hatter Chronicles has been picked up by Nickelodeon UK and Teletoon.

Endemol Worldwide is shopping the 3D TV series to international broadcasters.

The boy-targeted adventure/comedy series portrays Matt, an ordinary boy who comes upon a family secret that reveals the Hatters as defenders of a gateway to a different dimension, the Multiverse.

To save the world and the Multiverse, Matt must battle and capture infamous villains from Movie, Myth and Legend.

The commission from Platinum was unveiled by Arc Production’s head of production Matthew Teevan.

Arc Productions is majority owned by a Canadian investor consortium, with U.S.-based Starz retaining a minority stake.
