Telefilm intros new short film program at Cannes

As part of the 6th annual Perspective Canada screenings at the Cannes Film Market, Telefilm will be launching new initiative, Not Short on Talent.

The short film program is comprised of 15 Canuck short films, fiction and animated, from emerging talents that have been selected by programmer Danny Lennon. All films with the exception of one – Opasatica by Éric Morin (Quebec) – will be having their world or international premieres.

“The Not Short on Talent program builds on Perspective Canada’s purpose, which is to promote the diversity and quality of Canadian films and to increase their sales and visibility on the international market,” said Florence Moureaux, Telefilm’s acting director, national and international business development said in a statement. “Not Short on Talent will showcase up-and-coming Canadian directors to festival programmers and buyers, helping to position them on the world stage in early career.”

The program screens in Cannes on May 16, along with the seven features included in Perspective Canada, which takes place May 13-18.
