The series premiere of Canadian Pickers on History Television next month will also see the launch of a community-oriented antique and collectibles site CanadianPickers.com.
Collectors, dealers and fans of the series can meet on the online portal for picking stories through the Picker’s Handbook, a community forum where users can share picking tips and information, as well as participate in building up the Pickipedia – an open-source resource for all things picker-related.
Along with outtakes and blogs by the hosts Sheldon Smithens and Scott Cozens, the site also hosts an auction called the Picker-Mart. Here, users can bid, buy and sell items and swing by the Smithens and Cozens’s online store to auction on items featured in the show.
Inspired by American Pickers, Cineflix’s new series (13 x 1 hour) follows the two hosts who embark on a cross-Canadian road trip and exploring history through relics scattered throughout the country.
Canadian Pickers is a Cineflix production in association with Shaw Media with executive producers Simon Lloyd and Mark Poertner. The site is produced by Cineflix in association with Pure Cobalt, with funding from the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund and History Television.
