Canadian broadcaster Corus Entertainment has extended its reach in female-targeted media by acquiring a minority stake in B5Media Inc., an online media publisher.

B5Media owns and runs three women’s lifestyle websites launched in early 2010 — Crushable.com, TheGloss.com and Blisstree.com. – each aimed at women at different stages of their lives.

Terms of the deal, which includes a capital infusion from Corus into B5Media, were not fully disclosed.

“This partnership enables us to leverage the expertise and reach of Corus as we continue to develop our digital content and grow our business,” Elaine Kunda, CEO of B5Media, said in a statement.

Corus runs a string of female-targeted TV channels, inlcuding W Network, Cosmopolitan TV, VIVA, W Movies and the upcoming Canadian service for OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
