The U.S. online video service Hulu has acquired the Canadian TV animated series Odd Job Jack from indie distributor Duopoly.
Hulu is airing 52 episodes of The Comedy Network series from Smiley Guy Studios about the on-the-job misadventures of Jack Ryder, a 25-year old sociology grad voiced by Don McKellar.
The Canuck series also includes performances Jason Alexander, John Goodman, Sandra Oh, James Woods, Carrie Fisher, David Cross, Leslie Nielsen, Fred Willard, Christian Slater and Jerry Stiller.
Duopoly president Catherine Tait said Hulu provides a first-ever break into the U.S. market for the half-hour animated comedy.
The Canadian acquisition for Hulu also enables the U.S. service to differentiate itself from rival Internet platforms like Netflix and Youtube as it prepares for an IPO to finance its continuing expansion.
