Peter Raymont and Michele Hozer’s Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould is the only Canadian film nominated for the International Documentary Association Awards, to be handed out on December 3.
The Canadian film will challenge in the 2010 IDA’s music documentary category against a field that includes Leanne Pooley’s The Top Twinns: Untouchable Girls, a Kiwi film that earned the People’s Choice Award for documentaries at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.
The IDA nomination for Genius Within comes as the Glenn Gould biopic has played or been booked for theatrical screenings in 44 U.S. cities.
The film is also on theatrical release in Australia, with a UK theatrical bow set for early 2011.
The DVD release for Genius Within is to follow in March 2011.
