Hub picks up Atomic Betty, Fremantle gets Healthy

U.S. network The Hub has acquired the Canadian cartoon series Atomic Betty from Skywriter Media.

The U.S. cable licensing deal follows Atomic Betty first launching on Cartoon Network U.S. in 2004, before going on to air in around 180 countries worldwide.

The Hub, a joint-venture channel between toyco Hasbro and Discovery, picked up 78 half hour episodes of the Canadian cartoon about a young girl who doubles as a Galactic Guardian.

Atomic Betty was created by Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons, and produced by A Betty Productions and Teleimages Kids.

Also on the U.S. sales front, indie distributor The Fremantle Corporation has sold 26 half-hours of Healthy Gourmet to WealthTV stateside, starting this fall.

The series, produced by Toronto-based Kaleidoscope Productions, follows nutritionist Julie Daniluk and chef Ezra Title teaching healthy eating to nutritionally challenged groups, including a Dragon Boat crew, firemen and rock climbers.
