Indie distributor D Films has inked a supply deal with Emerging Pictures to release Mozart, Verdi and Shakespeare into cinemas countrywide.

The alternate programming output deal will see D Films pick up the Canadian distribution rights to live opera, ballet and theater from the UK, Italy and Spain, including two new series, Ballet In Cinema and Shakespeare In Cinema.

The deal starts September 10 with the Mozart opera Cosi fan tutte from the Royal Opera House in London, programming sub-licensed to D Films through an earlier North American distribution deal between Emerging Pictures and Opus Arte, a division of the Royal Opera House.

The latest agreement was negotiated by Jim Sherry and Tony Cianciotta for D Films and Ira Deutchman for New York City-based Emerging Pictures.
