CBS drops The Bridge

CBS has bumped Canuck cop drama The Bridge from its summer schedule after airing just three episodes.

The U.S. broadcaster confirmed the decision to Playback Daily on Friday. A spokesperson at CTV says it remains committed to season two of the E1 Entertainment-produced series. Bridge co-producer Craig Bromell told The Canadian Press that CBS indicated it is pulling the drama immediately for ‘reasons of fall scheduling,’ though news reports indicated ratings were low. He insisted that the show had not been cancelled outright.

The Bridge

Bridge stars Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica) as an outspoken cop-turned-union head who battles police brass and politicians in Toronto’s corridors of power. The drama is produced by E1, 990 Multi Media Entertainment and Jonsworth Productions.

CBS will air re-runs of Cold Case at 8 p.m. in place of Bridge, according to its schedule.

The show wrapped its first season on CTV this past May with 880,000 viewers (2+), slightly below its season average of one million viewers. It has sold to Latin America and Europe.
