Canwest Global alum Zev Shalev’s next big stateside adventure is stick-handling the launch in fall 2010 of a daily syndicated lifestyle series for Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios.
Shalev is to executive produce The Nate Berkus Show for Harpo and Sony Pictures Television, which is to star the Chicago-based interior decorator and be produced out of New York City from September.
Shalev most recently launched the online news service NewsTsar after stepping down as executive producer of CBS’s The Early Show after 18 months in the job.
Before shifting to New York City, Shalev launched Entertainment Tonight Canada as VP of strategic programming at Canwest Global, co-founded U8TV for then Alliance Atlantis Communications and executive produced CTV’s Canada AM.
Berkus has been a regular guest on The Ophrah Winfrey Show before Winfrey’s production shingle, Harpo Studios, hired Shalev to launch a standalone series.
Sony Pictures Television and Harpo last fall launched The Dr. Oz Show to syndicated TV success. Sony Pictures Television will handle worldwide distribution for the Berkus series.
