Nightingale teams with Degrassi duo

The Nightingale Company is developing a comedy with Aubrey Graham and Mazin Elsadig of Degrassi: The Next Gemeration.

The show, Us & Them, still in early development, will see the duo star and be ‘heavily involved in the creative process,’ according to Nightingale producer Alyson Richards, who will be heading up the project. It is described as a tongue-in-cheek story following two buddies as they attempt to navigate their careers in the entertainment industry, to be aimed at a 20-something crowd similar to those who watch HBO’s Entourage.

The show is to be loosely based on the friends’ real life. Graham and Elsadig shot a pilot on spec which made an impression at Nightingale. The Toronto company plans to reshoot the pilot together with Graham and Elsadig’s newly minted outfit By Any Means Necessary Productions.

This is not Elsadig’s first time working with Nightingale. He has a recurring role on its cop show The Line, which plays on Movie Central and The Movie Network.

Graham, who also has a rap career under the name Drake, has been enjoying sudden fame after being signed to Li’l Wayne’s record company, Young Money. He is also rumored to be dating Rihanna and has found fans in such hip-hop heavyweights as Kanye West and Jay-Z.

Both actors are currently part of the ensemble cast of Degrassi: TNG.
