Flock crowned at Peace Arch

With its corporate retrenchment nearly completed, Peace Arch Entertainment has upped president and COO John Flock to CEO.

Flock replaces Gerry Noble, who stepped down in May after shifting Peace Arch out of in-house movie making and towards increased TV production.

Flock’s promotion, okayed by the Canadian studio’s board of directors, also follows Peace Arch spinning off its home entertainment division to a group led by former Peace Arch executive Berry Meyerowitz.

Going forward, Los Angeles-based Flock told Playback Daily that he intends to build out Peace Arch’s North American film distribution business to between six and eight releases annually, restore the company’s DVD distribution operation, and use Canada as a base from which to make and sell TV dramas into the world market, including the U.S.

‘We’re doing unscripted TV out of Vancouver. But we had The Tudors, and never really capitalized,’ he said.

Flock said Peace Arch will focus on Canadian-content scripted TV production, including international co-productions with European partners top-of-mind.

‘I don’t see us deviating from a Canadian model,’ he said.

The new Peace Arch CEO said the producer is also close to finalizing a restatement of past earnings to allow the delayed release of financial statements for full-year 2008 and the first half of the current fiscal year.
