Bob & Doug set for Sundays

The Great White North’s Bob & Doug McKenzie will make their long-awaited return to Canadian airwaves in animated fashion, as part of Global’s Sunday night comedy lineup, beginning April 19.

The new 22-ep series Bob & Doug, featuring the voices of SCTV alum Dave Thomas and comedian Dave Coulier (Full House) – who steps in for Rick Moranis – will air in early primetime at 7:30 p.m., and serve as a lead-in to usual Sunday Global laughers The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Exec producers are Thomas and Moranis, alongside producer Patricia Burns. The series’ voice cast includes Canadians Patrick McKenna, Derek McGrath, Ron Pardo, Jayne Eastwood and Ho Chow. Bob & Doug is being produced by Thomas’ Toronto-based prodco and by PIP Animation in Ottawa.

‘Bob & Doug builds on the hilarity of the Canadian cult classic while offering viewers a fresh animated look at these beloved characters,’ commented Canwest SVP of drama and factual content Christine Shipton in a release, adding the series is ‘an outstanding addition’ to the Global slate.
