Klein doc goes to E1

E1 Entertainment has picked up the worldwide rights to The Shock Doctrine, the adaptation of the Naomi Klein book by British directors Michael Winterbottom and Mat Whitecross.

The picture, set to make its world premiere on Monday at the Berlin film festival, part of its Panorama Dokumente program, examines the rise of ‘disaster capitalism’ — a doctrine which enables governments and companies to exploit the economies of countries affected by war, terrorism or natural catastrophes. Klein narrates the movie.

Winterbottom and Whitecross previously directed The Road to Guantanamo, about the infamous U.S. facility in Cuba, which won the Silver Bear prize at Berlin in 2006.

Klein’s book was also reworked into an animated short of the same name in 2007, directed by Alfonso and Jonás Cuarón.
