• Canwest has promoted Kenton Boston to VP of Global National News, a new position that puts him in charge of ‘strategic editorial direction’ at the network, and of overseeing the launch of its four new foreign bureaus. The network has also tapped Neill Fitzpatrick as Global National’s executive producer, another new position that puts him in charge of day-to-day operation of the national newscast. Fitzpatrick was most recently at the Global station in Edmonton.

• Jon Dube has stepped down as director of digital media for cbcnews.ca to rejoin ABC as VP of abcnews.com. CBC announced the departure in a memo to staff, applauding the improvements and increased traffic at its online news wing during his three-year stint. Dube worked at abcnews.com some 10 years before moving to msnbc.com and then the Ceeb. At his new post he will oversee strategic planning, business strategy, editorial content and production of the U.S. network’s online news service, according to a release from ABC.

• CTVglobemedia has hired Sgt. Cam Woolley away from the Ontario Provincial Police, and will put the veteran cop on CP24 this month as a traffic and safety specialist. Woolley, already known to Toronto audiences for his colorful reports on highway safety – most notably during long weekends – will do live and on-location reports from around Toronto for the 24-hour news channel and other CTVgm outlets.

• John Harding is now executive director of the Toronto-based North American Broadcasters Association, taking over at the umbrella group for Carol Darling. Harding, former president of both the Strategic Marketing Group and the Radio Marketing Bureau, will report to NABA secretary general David Baylor.

• Patricia Scarlett has joined recruiting firm Media Intelligence as senior consultant, curriculum development and career management, arriving alongside docmaker and author Sun-Kyung ‘Sunny’ Yi (Thai Girls), who is now senior consultant, curriculum development and facilitation.

• Rekha Shah has signed on at CCI Entertainment as director of sales. The former Alliance Atlantis exec will handle sales in Asia, eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Canada. She will also be responsible for acquisitions and management of the company’s releasing department.
