Toronto’s Portfolio Entertainment has closed several deals for its animated, kids and lifestyle shows, including Carl Squared, Spellz, Toad Patrol and Breathing Space Yoga, ahead of next month’s MIPCOM.

Tween-aimed animated comedy series Carl Squared has been picked up for its third season by Jetix in the Netherlands, while broadcasters including Turkey’s Ares Media.Net and South Africa’s KTV signed on for the show’s first three seasons, totaling 52 half-hour episodes.

Ares Media also bought the first 26 episodes of the kids series Spellz, along with Singapore’s MediaCorp TV12, while Malaysia’s RTM inked a 26-ep deal for the animated adventure series Toad Patrol.

Among adult-oriented programming, Portfolio has licensed 65 half-hour episodes of the lifestyle series Breathing Space Yoga, produced by Toronto’s Big Coat Productions, to domestic cable channel One: the Body, Mind & Spirit channel.

‘We are continuing to build the diversity of our company’s relationships with broadcasters worldwide,’ said Portfolio founder and president Joy Rosen in a release.

Rosen praised the efforts of Jon Rutherford, who was promoted to director of sales and acquisitions in May, noting ‘we’re thrilled that Jon has successfully taken on his new responsibility of developing these various relationships.’
